“I am not just the boy in the wheelchair, I am Max”
“I was born with a condition called Pachyonychia Conjenita , it ensured that I would not be able to walk for long periods of time and if I were to, it would result in chronic pain. It also gives me some physical abnormalities such as dysmorphic fingernails. When growing up at times I felt ostracised due to my difference and other times I felt scared. Nonetheless, I never let my disability stop me from doing what I want. I have always pushed myself, physically and mentally to reach my goals. I am studying for my A-levels, I tutor, I make necklaces, read and adore language learning. I have never been able to do the same things as other kids, but in growing up I found there are other things that I can be passionate about and since realising this I have never let my disability stop me from aiming high and achieving.” By Max

Max’s foot. I shot this photo to show how pachyonychia congenita affects max physically.
Max is taking care of his feet by spraying ‘Emollin’ on his feet which contains white soft paraffin BP and liquid paraffin BP to protect and sooth his foot due to the dry and blistering skin on his foot.
Max was showing me that he had sprayed too much ‘Emollin’ which made his foot very oily.
Max going charity shopping, as it is something he really enjoys doing.
